Avs Give Capilano the Blues
In Saturday's afternoon rematch, the visiting Blues put up a greater fight against the host Avs. Unfortunately for the Blues, the Avs would once again take the match in three sets, sweeping the weekend.
"I was initially pleased with the effort we came out with as we were able to get all of our players into the opening set." commented head coach Swanson "Capilano came out very determined and aggressive in the second set and I don’t think our guys responded with the necessary compete level. Capilano was able to push us very hard right through the entire second set. I thought we refocussed and increased our level of play in the third set finishing the third set in a very efficient manner."
"Overall we received solid play from all of our players however I our libero Mitch Parnham was our best player as he served received very well. Mitch’s passing allowed our setters to utilize any attacker in system. It put a lot of pressure on the blockers for Capilano."
The Blues made the long trip back to the Lower Mainland where they now get next weekend off while the Avs remain at home and host the Douglas Royals.
