Undefeated in 24 straight matches
Despite providing several of their starters with a day of rest, the Camosun College Chargers men’s volleyball team completed a perfect weekend against the visiting COTR Avalanche with today’s 3-0 victory. The Avs put forth a gallant effort in the early stages of the match and were within two points of edging a win in the first set, however, COTR seemed to run out of steam as the Chargers picked up the pace to power through sets 2 and 3 and ultimately claim the win.
Newcomer Jerome Cross from Burnaby (outside hitter) led the Chargers to victory with 11 kills, 1 block and 6 digs. Second-year right side Gabriel Freund was close behind with his contribution of 7 kills, 2 blocks 2 aces and 6 digs.
The Avs finish the first half 4-8 while Camosun claims its 12th consecutive PACWEST victory of the season and remains undefeated in 24 straight league and playoff matches dating back to Jan. 30th, 2015.
The weekend series with COTR concludes the first half of the PACWEST season. Following the winter exam period break, Camosun begins the New Year with what promises to be another exciting match-up with the University of the Fraser Cascades in Abbotsford, January 8 &9.
