Royals sweep Bearcats
The Douglas Royals end the first half of the season with a pair of wins against the CBC Bearcats. The Royals continued where they left off last night by disposing of the Cats in another three set win.
The Cats enter the holiday break 0-12 while the Royals are 9-3. The Royals were led by Nick Lightfoot who finished the night with 10 kills, 1 ace and 4 digs. Kristian Currie had 7 kills, 1 ace and 3 digs. The Cats top performer was Curtis Stelzer with 6 kills, 2 aces and 7 digs.
"To CBC's credit they play very hard. Despite their record there's no shortage of passion or compete in their group and it was good to finish the semester on a good note." said Royals head coach Hudson. "We've battled through all kinds of injuries and illness this semester but the guys never faltered. To sweep road games is always tough in our league and I'm pleased our group was able to come together and play a decent brand of volleyball to end what has been an adversity filled first semester."
Added CBC's head coach Warkentin "We finished off the semester in a much more positive position than we started. As our team continues to mature and grow we continue to take steps in the right direction. Douglas showed their experience, especially in closing out sets and we continue to learn from these situations. Curtis continues to lead our squad with steady play out of the middle and Drew Harder had a positive offensive weekend for us"
Both teams earn a much needed break from league play and return to action in January 2016.
