Mariners Earn Sweep
The Cats and Mariners were back at it for an afternoon affair. Coming off a 3-0 win last night, the Mariners were looking for their third win of the season. CBC put up a slightly tougher battle but still succumbed to the Mariner offense losing another three set match, 25-14, 25-19, 25-20.
"The weekend was exactly what we needed. It was nice to see a couple hard weeks of training pay off. The guys were short on match confidence and this weekend will hopefully build some momentum heading into next weekend versus a very good team in Douglas. The depth of the league is excellent, so any time you can sweep a weekend it is very beneficial in more than just the standings." stated head coach Avender.
Top performers for the Mariners were Jesse Bazergui with 16 offensive points (12 kills, 2 blocks, 2 aces) and 6 digs; Zach Grig with 11 offensive points (7 kills, 4 aces) and 3 digs; and Ariel Acosta with 10 offensive points (6 kills, 3 blocks, 1 ace) and 1 dig.
Next up for the Mariners is a road trip to New Westminster to play the Douglas Royals while the Bearcats sit idle.
