The Avs were coming off two very hard fought loses against Camosun last weekend. Playing in their last home stand of the season, the Avs played host to that other Island team, the VIU Mariners. VIU sat idle last weekend and were well rested.
"The men’s match on Friday was again a frustrating start. We passed very poorly and we were not able to put any pressure on VIU." commented Avs head coach Swanson. "Thankfully in the second, third and fourth sets we passed much better and attacked very effectively."
COTR lost that first set 25-15 but were able to win the next three sets 26-24, 25-19, 25-22. "I was very pleased with some of our players performances as I felt the level of compete increased to a point that we were able to win 3-1." continued Swanson.
Both teams return Saturday afternoon in COTR's last home match of the season.
