The COTR Avalanche arrived in Abbotsford where the embarked on their last road trip of the season. Their opponents were the CBC Bearcats and UFV Cascades in a four match series.  Thursday evening the travelling Avs faced the Cats at Columbia Place.  The 0-16 Cats were still looking for their first win of the season and the 7-9 Avs who were sitting 2 points behind the UFV Cascades in the standings, were looking to close the gap.

The first two sets went to the visiting Avs with identical 25-22 sets scores. In the third set, the Cats were able to steal a set back 25-14 but the Avs were not done. COTR closed out the fourth set 25-21 to take the match

"We started to show a bit of the chemistry and consistency we have been searching for throughout the year." said CBC head coach Warkentin. "Despite stretches of very consistent play, we came up short. Our service game was a bit of a double-edged sword as we had 12 aces, but also missed 24 serves."

"Offensively, Ryan Newman led the way with 14 kills and 1 ace, both Curtis Stelzer (2 aces) and Ben Smith (4 aces) had 7 kills and Thomas Anton chipped in with 6. Defensively, the team had three players with 8 digs (Ryan, Drew, Ben) and Curtis contributed 3 blocks." added Warkentin.

Contributions for the Avs came from Mitchell Parnham (11 kills, 2 blocks, 3 digs), Julio Lins (11 kills, 4 digs) and Patrik Toz (5 kills, 1 block, 11 digs).

Both team return to Columbia Place tomorrow evening.
