Royals Earn Split with Avs
After losing last night's match in a five set battle, both the Royals and Avs were back in action in an afternoon affair. The host Avs began the afternoon where they finished the night before and they took the opening set 25-21.
The Royals for their part were not keen on leaving the Kootenays without at least earning a weekend split. The 2nd set saw the reversal of fortunes for the Royals as they took the set 25-16 to tie the match 1-1. Douglas would go on to win the 3rd and 4th sets 25-13 and 25-23 to close out the match and earn a valuable 2 points.
Next weekends match up has the Royals who currently sit #3 in the Country vs the CCAA #2 ranked Camosun Chargers. COTR have earned the weekend off where they can enjoy the match from the comforts of their own homes. COTR are back in action on another gruelling 4 match road trip on January 28-31, 2016.
"Saturday's win was a good bounce-back effort by our group. Our first year players, Jared Collin and Justin Faester gave us a much needed boost of enthusiasm while returnee, Mustafa Haq did a great job setting the tone with his emotion and physicality at the net." - Royals head coach Brad Hudson.
