The PACWEST champion Capilano Blues open the national tournament on Thursday against George Brown
Capilano Blues vs. George Brown Huskies – Thursday March 16, 5:00pm PST | WATCH HERE
The PACWEST champion Blues open the CCAA nationals when they face the Huskies, a wildcard team from Ontario.
This is the first time the Blues come into this tournament as the PACWEST champions since 2003 and this first game won’t be easy and could come down to their stifling defence against a very powerful Huskies offence.
The Huskies were outstanding in the East Division of the Ontario Conference and finished 17-1 with a potent offence punch averaging over 95 points a game while giving up a Conference low 70 points. They are led by a two-headed monster of Jeremiah Brown and Derrick Taylor who average over 12 points a game each.
The Blues big men down low will have to be a factor like they were in the PACWEST gold medal match when they played a very physical, but smart ballgame. This will be a tough match-up for the Blues, but they have tremendous veteran leadership that will be very helpful this weekend.
The winner moves onto a semi-final scheduled for Friday.
