Another exciting weekend across the PACWEST
SATURDAY
Langara Falcons 4
VIU Mariners 0
The Falcons played a nearly perfect road game shutting out the Mariners on Saturday.
Emmanuel Ekeh scored his third of the season in the 17th minute giving the Falcons a lead they would never relinquish. Then just before halftime Anmol Singh tallied his first of the season in the 45th minute giving the Falcons a two goal advantage.
In the second half it was all Ekeh scoring in the 70th and 73rd minutes to push the Falcons to the lopsided victory.
Keeper Aleks Kaljdzic made three saves for his first PACWEST shutout.
This was the first Falcons’ win over the Mariners since October 11, 2014 and first at VIU since September 7, 2008.
These two teams will meet again on Sunday.

Capilano Blues 2
It was a heavy weight battle as the Royals and Blues squared off in the first half of a home and home on Saturday with the defending PACWEST champion Royals coming out on top.
Taylor Richardson gave the Royals a 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute, a lead they would carry into halftime.
The second half proved to be extremely exciting with four goals. The Blues tied the game in the 47th minute when Marco Favaro tallied his first of the season.
In the 60th minute the Blues took the lead when Keith Jackson notched his PACWEST leading fourth goal.
The game looked like it was in hand but then Burhan Waisy scored for the Royals in the injury time in the 92nd minute to tie it, then a minute later he scored again to give the Royals the 3-2 victory in a wild finish.
These two teams will meet again on Sunday afternoon.
SUNDAY
VIU Mariners 3
Langara Falcons 2
The Falcons once again opened the scoring when Matias Guedes scored on a penalty kick, his first of the season in the sixth minute.
The Mariners finally solved the Falcons defence when Shun Takano scored his first of the season in the 29th minute. The Mariners then took their first lead of the weekend when Ryan McCurdy tallied his second of the season in the 35th minute.
The lead however was short lived as just three minutes later the Falcons tied it when Taku Ota scored his first of the campaign in the 38th minute.
Following halftime the Mariners would score the lone goal of the second half when Stephon Kriegel scored his first of the season. The goal would stand as the game winner.
Mariners’ keeper Evan Carr made two saves in the second half and slammed the door on the Falcons to secure their first win of the season.
Next weekend the Mariners (1-3-2) will visit the Capilano Blues (3-1-1) on Saturday while the Falcons (1-3-1) will welcome the Douglas Royals (3-1-2).

After losing a heartbreaker on Saturday giving up a pair of goals in injury time the Blues didn’t want that to happen two days in a row and blasted the Royals 6-2 on Sunday.
Keith Jackson was a machine on Sunday notching his first of four goals in the first minute giving the Blues an early lead. Then in the ninth minute the Blues would strike again off the foot of Adrian Sahagun to give the home side a two-goal advantage.
Jackson would strike again in the 16th minute, with what would turn out to be the game winning goal.
In the 32nd minute the Blues would add to their massive lead when Patrick Izett found the back of the net giving the home side a commanding 4-0 lead and they weren’t done in the first half. Jackson would complete the first half hat trick in the 37th minute as the Blues enjoy a 5-0 lead heading into the half.
The Royals finally got on the board in the 62nd minute when David Sun scored his first of the season. Eight minutes later the Royals tallied another off the foot of Taylor Richardson, his second of the weekend in the 70th minute.
Then eight minutes later Jackson would score his fourth of the game and fifth of the weekend to give the Blues a dominating victory.
Next week the Blues (3-1-1) host the VIU Mariners (1-3-2) on Saturday while the Royals (3-1-2) visit the Langara Falcons (1-3-1).
