The Royals Face The Kermodes
They played to a 3-3 tie in Week 1. Saturday is the rematch
Saturday afternoon the PACWEST men’s Game of the Week features a pair of teams with the identical records when the Douglas Royals (1-1-1) visit the Quest Kermodes (1-1-1).
This will be the second meeting this season after they played to a 3-3 tie on September 9th. Incredibly there were six different goal scorers with the Royals coming back to score a pair of goals just two minutes apart to earn the tie in the 58th and 60th minutes.
The Royals played just one game last weekend and tallied an upset win over the two-time defending champion Capilano Blues 2-1. They would score a pair of goals late in the game just six minutes apart thanks to Quinn Dawson and Race Williams to earn the three points.
Royals head coach Robby Toor says, "It’s always tough going up to Squamish and playing Quest. They usually have a lot of fans out for our games and they really get into it which creates a fun environment to play in."
The Kermodes on the other hand shutout the Langara Falcons last Sunday 2-0. Ahmed Kamal scored both goals and Sam MacDonald made three saves to earn the shutout.
Kamal (3) is second in PACWEST scoring, one behind the leader Keith Jackson of the Blues.
Now that all five teams have all played each other, the coaches will find things a bit easier to prepare. “The team is looking forward to this rematch at home after the 3-3 tie that opened the season,” says Kermodes head coach Alexander Elliott. “We've found our stride offensively and it's important that we keep confidant coming into this match.”
Saturday afternoon at 3:30pm the Kermodes will welcome the Royals, both looking to keep pace with the PACWEST leaders.
