PACWEST MEN

It was a rematch of last season’s PACWEST gold medal game and the Royals got a small measure of payback with an impressive victory on Saturday.
After no scoring in the first half, the Blues got on the board first with a Nicolas Morello penalty kick in the 48th minute.
With time ticking away the Royals began to press and got the equalizer in the 71st minute courtesy of a goal from Quinn Dawson. Then six minutes later Race Williams scored the game winner on a penalty kick.
Royals’ goalie Joel Webb was solid making three saves on four shots. Blues netminder Hudson Nelles was considerably busy making five saves on seven shots.
The Royals (1-1-1) will have Sunday off while the Blues (1-1-0) face the undefeated VIU Mariners (3-0-0).

Quest Kermodes 0
The Mariners recorded their second shutout this season as goalie David Turkstra had an easy day making just one save.
Shun Takano scored what would be the game winner in the 22nd minute. Jordan DeGraaf added his third of the season in the 90th minute.
The Mariners were a buzz saw around the net and Kermodes goalie Sam MacDonald made six saves on eight shots.
The Mariners (3-0-0) face the Capilano Blues (1-1-0) on Sunday while the Kermodes (0-1-1) host the Langara Falcons (0-2-0).

It was the first meeting between these two teams since last season’s PACWEST semi-final.
The Royals opened the scoring in the 11th minute off the foot of third year player Sam Kell.
However the Blues responded just seven minutes later as Dominika Paige got her first of the season in the 18th minute. Then three minutes later the Blues scored what would be the game winner when Adrianna Babinski buried the ball in the back of the net.
Blues’ goalie Nikki Gerbrandt had to be sharp especially in the late going. She made five saves on six shots. Four of those shots came in the second half.
On Sunday the Blues (1-0-1) will welcome the VIU Mariners (1-1-1) and the Royals (1-1-1) will have the day off.

Quest Kermodes 2
It was an exciting game at Quest as the Mariners recorded their first win of the season. They would jump out to a quick lead in the eighth minute when Zoe Grace scored.
Once both teams settled in it was tough to generate any offence until Mariners second year player Chloe Gummer scored in the 22nd minute to give her club a two goal advantage.
The Kermodes cut the lead in half in the 40th minute when Rayna Smith-Marshall scored her first of the year.
Coming out of halftime the Kermodes would tie it up in the 65th minute when Sachi Swift scored her first of the year. However the tie did not last long as Gummer scored her second of the game in the 72nd minute to win it for the Mariners.
The Mariners (1-1-1) will face the Capilano Blues (1-0-1) on Sunday while the Kermodes (0-1-1) will host the Langara Falcons (0-0-2).
