It’s simple for the Langara Falcons on Saturday, win or go home.
The Falcons (1-8-2) will host the Quest Kermodes (2-7-1) in the Game of the Week with a spot in the Provincial championship tournament on the line. The Kermodes currently have a one point lead on the Falcons with a game in hand. On Sunday they’ll face the VIU Mariners.
This will be the third meeting of the season between these two clubs. The Kermodes scoring a 4-0 win in their first meeting with four different scores including Noah Derappard-Yuswack who leads his club with three goals. Then just three weeks later they played to a 1-1 tie. Jeremy Mone tallied for the Kermondes while Joshua Nzuzi Luaka responded for the Falcons.
The Kermodes have lost four straight and have scored the second fewest goals in the Conference, one more however than the Falcons, who have lost three straight.
The biggest issue for the Falcons have been keeping the ball out of their own net, giving up a Conference high 34 goals. Kevin Monk has a 2.82 goals against average, allowing 29 of the 34 goals scored against this season.
The Kermodes have seen Sam MacDonald play every game and has given up 17 goals with a 1.70 goals against average.
All that said, with a playoff spot on the line, don’t be surprised if this game is back and forth with plenty of action.
Saturday afternoon the Kermodes visit the Falcons at 2:30pm.
