Ready To Take Flight
A very different looking Langara Falcons team is ready to hit the court on Friday night
The Langara Falcons are preparing to open their 2018-2019 season on Friday when they host the defending champion Douglas Royals.
The Falcons will have a different look and feel this year with only two returning players from their PACWEST bronze medal performance a year ago. That said they will work all season for one goal and that’s to be a force when they host the CCAA National Championship beginning March 13th.
“Due to injuries, academics, and other issues we only have big man Grant Galbraith (5th year) and perimeter scorer Antonio Jhuty (4th year) returning,” says head coach Paul Eberhardt. “We will have to be patient with our development but we are a much bigger team and have tremendous experience with many older players. We will also be adding some players to our roster in the second term. Our whole focus is on being at our best in March when we host the Nationals at the Langley Events Centre.”

2017-2018 Result – Finished second in the regular season at 12-6, then won a PACWEST bronze medal.
2018-2019 Impact Player – Grant Galbraith is a fifth year senior and will need to have success when the curtain goes up on Saturday. He’ll be the focal point of the offence this season.
Biggest Loss – Fourth year point guard Ravi Basra, the captain of the offence. The two-time All-Canadian point guard Basra, has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus and ACL and will miss the entire season.
Team Strength – The Falcons will have a balanced offence with a good perimeter attack along with a strong inside game. They will also be a very good rebounding team with their size.
The Falcons tip-off on Friday night at home against the Douglas Royals in a rematch of last year’s PACWEST semi-final at 8:00pm.
