VIU Mariners 92

To say Usama Zaid of the Mariners took over the game is an understatement. He was 16 of 31 from the field and scored a season high 48 points, adding six-three pointers. Jerod Dorby chipped in with 14 points and Harry Fayle had 11.
The Chargers turned to Shaquille Maharaj to try and go toe-to-toe with Zaid and he was outstanding. He scored 34 points on 13 of 24 shooting and nailed seven-three pointers. In all the Chargers hit 14-threes. Mathew Hampton was very good as well with 20 points hitting three-three pointers.
Douglas Royals 62
Capilano Blues 57
A solid road win for the Royals as Noah DeRappard-Yuswack was simply outstanding with 19 points and an incredible 23 rebounds. Grant Campbell was the only other Royal in double-digits with 18.
Like the Royals the Blues had balanced scoring led by Denver Sparks-Guest who had 14 points while Wowie Untalan dropped in 12.
Langara Falcons 100
Quest Kermodes 90
For the fifth straight game the Falcons offence reached the century mark on 41% shooting. They connected on 13-three pointers including six from Antonio Jhuty who finished with 20 points. Ravi Basra knocked down 18 and added seven assists while Harry Brar scored 13 and snagged 16 boards.
The Kermodes were extremely balanced with six players reaching double-digits and they shot 47%. Chris McAlpine nailed four-three pointers and finished with 16 points. Ben Steinbrueck, Walker Reynold-Royer and Payton Tirrell each dropped 13.
SATURDAY
VIU Mariners 87
Camosun Chargers 55
The Mariners picked up right where they left off and scored 26 points in the first quarter and never looked back. Usama Zaid again led the way with 25 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Jerod Dorby added 16 points. As a team they shot 45% from the field.
The Chargers shot 33% but were a dismal 18% from downtown. Dallas Hancox finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Capilano Blues 92
Douglas Royals 88
A close game the entire way as the Blues shot 44% led by the 22 points of Brenden Bailey who connected on four-three pointers. In all the Blues scored 13-three pointers shooting 37%. Both Wowie Untalen and Hassan Phills chipped in with 16 points each.
The Royals had five players score double-digits led by Kameron Johnson’s game high 24 points. Noah DeRappard-Yuswack had another strong game on both ends of the floor with 17 points and 14 rebounds in a losing cause.
Quest Kermodes 92

It was the best finish of the weekend as the Kermodes got a buzzer beating slam dunk to put an exclamation mark on the end of the regular season. As a team they shot 43% from the field led by Payton Tirrell’s 23 points and 13 rebounds. Walker Reynold-Royer chipped in with 20 points and 12 boards while Chris McAlpine knocked down three-threes and 19 points.
For the first time in six games the Falcons were held to under 100 points as they shot 36% from the field. Harry Liu finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Ravi Basra dropped in 10 points and collected 13 assists.
