The Mariners, Chargers and Falcons fly high on Friday night

The Chargers recorded a massive and hard fought road win outscoring the Royals 24-19 in the final frame. Overall they shot 41% from the field and 43.9% in the second half alone. Dylan Marsden led all scorers with 21 points while Shaquille Maharaj dropped in 18 and Mathew Hampton scored 11 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Offensively the Royals countered with Kameron Johnson’s 20 points and 15 from Grant Campbell. As usual Noah DeRappard-Yuswack was stellar on the glass with a game high 12 rebounds.
VIU Mariners 96
Capilano Blues 73
Prior to the game Blues’ head coach Cassidy Kannemeyer asked for MLA Melanie Mark’s hand in marriage and she said yes! Unfortunately for the Blues it was the only celebrating they would do that night.
The Mariners spoiled the party shooting 47% from the field led by Usama Zaid who had a game high 28 points and pulled down 10 rebounds and Bryson Cox added 15 points.
Offensively the Blues had a solid game, but struggled trying to find an answer for Zaid. Hassan Phills did score 17 points to lead them and Niko Mottus had 12. As a team they shot 31%.

CBC Bearcats 77
The Falcons led wire to wire and shot 49% for the game as seven different players scored in the double-digits. Martin Bogajev set the pace with 29 points including seven-three pointers. Ravi Basra scored 17 points and dished out 10 assists and Harry Liu scored 20 points. Graddy Zubaidi had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The Bearcats did shoot 33% from the field on Friday night led by Ty Cleland who did score 26 points and Jack Nadelhoffer who had 14.
