Blues Sneak By Royals
A gutsy road victory for the Capilano Blues on Monday night
Capilano Blues 85
Douglas Royals 84
The Blues won three of the four quarters and hung on for a gutsy road win over the Royals on a rare Monday night in the PACWEST.
Five Blues reached double-digits to lead the offence. Denver Sparks-Guest continues to be the “sparkplug” for the Blues dropping in 16 points, one better than teammate CJ Campbell.
In all the Blues nailed 11-three pointers. Sparks-Guest, Campbell and Wowie Untalan each hit three.
On paper the Royals offence actually looked more dominating as six different players reached the double-digit mark. Noah DeRappard-Yuswack was simply outstanding with 17 points and 22 rebounds while Reese Morris scored 11 and grabbed 14 boards. Kameron Johnson led all scorers with 18 points. Meanwhile the all-time leading PACWEST scorer Grant Campbell scored 12 points, half of them from the free-throw line.
The Royals (4-2) now enter the holiday break while the Blues (2-3) will play at the CBC Bearcats (0-5) on Tuesday night before the break.
