The Royals, Mariners and Kermodes get it done on Saturday

The Royals played a solid road game outscoring the Chargers in the third quarter 27-18 which paved the way for their third win of the season. Noah DeRappard-Yuswack set the tone with a game high 24 points and tallied eight rebounds. Grant Campbell had 20 points, eight rebounds and three assists while Reese Morris chipped in with 19 points.
The Chargers offence nailed 11-three points and Matthew Hamilton had 18 points in a losing cause. Four of their five starters scored double-digits but it wasn’t enough to outscore the high flying Royals.
VIU Mariners 86
Capilano Blues 73
The Mariners outscored the Blues 22-13 in the first quarter and never looked back. Usama Zaid was again the offensive trigger point scoring 30 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Brett Christensen came off the bench and scored 17 while Tyus Barfoot tallied 13 points, eight boards and four assists.
The Blues were led once again by newcomer Denver Sparks-Guest and his game high 31 points, but was cold from behind the arch hitting just three of 12 attempts. Hassan Phills played a solid game with 14 points and six boards.
Quest Kermodes 72
CBC Bearcats 71
The Kermodes just barely escaped Abbotsford with a one point victory. Ben Steinbrueck scored 19 points and Chris McAlpine had 17 to set the pace for the visitors.
Three of the five Bearcat starters scored double-digits with Tim Dick leading the charger with his game high 26 points, which included four-three pointers. Jack Naddelhoffer scored 18 while Ty Cleland continued his hot play with 12 points and nine rebounds.
