Falcons soar to victory over Blues

The visiting Langara Falcons (3-1) were too much for the CapU Blues (2-2) Friday night as they came away with an 84-79 victory. The Blues put together a strong second quarter (22-11) and headed into halftime with a 41-33 lead.  However, the more experienced Falcons came out of halftime flying, outscoring the Blues in the second half 51-38, inevitably leading to their victory on the night.

Leading the way for the Blues, second-year guard Martin Bogajev (25 points, 7 rebounds), second-year forward Graddy Zubaidi (17 points, 8 rebounds) along with rookie post, Chris Loreth (14 points, 8 rebounds). The Falcons countered with Drake Downer (26 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal) and Kanwar Grewal (22 points, 4 rebounds).

Tonight I was more impressed with what Langara did to take us out of our rhythm" commented Blues head coach Cassidy Kannemeyer.  "I felt like we couldn't hit shots when it mattered. I think Graddy and Chris did a great job off the bench, and Marty got is off to a great start. But I got out coached in the third and Paul had his troops ready out of halftime.  I think collectively we need to work harder defensively and gang rebound and we need to attack the rim and not settle for 3's.”

The Blues take on the undefeated Quest Kermodes (4-0) tonight, Nov. 14th at 7 p.m. at the Sportplex in North Vancouver while the Falcons travel to the Douglas Royals also at 7 pm.
