The final PACWEST golf tournament was hosted at Ledgeview Golf Club in Abbotsford by the UFV Cascades this weekend and the home side took advantage.

On the men’s side Daniel Campbell fired a 68 and 70 to capture the tournament title by one stroke over teammate Ben Whiton. Another Cascade Halen Davis finished third.

Over on the women’s side Cascades’ golfers finished 1-2-3 led by Emery Bardock who shot 78 and 76 for the victory by just two strokes. Hannah Dirksen and Maddie Kapchinsky finished second and third.

Following the tournament the PACWEST handed out individual medals and again the Cascades found themselves on top.

Campbell won the individual PACWEST gold medal with a cumulative score of 557. His best rounds were a pair of 66s collected at the Okanagan Golf Club and Morningstar. This is Campbell’s first PACWEST gold medal.

His teammate Ben Whiton started the day nine strokes behind on the overall leaderboard but couldn’t quite catch him shooting a 70 on Saturday and a 69 on Sunday. Whiton’s cumulative score is 566 and good enough to win PACWEST silver.

Collecting the PACWEST bronze is fifth year veteran James Casorso of the UBC Okanagan Heat. His cumulative score of 574 was 17 strokes behind Campbell.

Rounding out the top five on the men’s leaderboard and winning PACWEST All-Stars are Halen Davis of the UFV Cascades (577) and VIU’s Wyatt Brook (580).

On the women’s leaderboard the Cascades swept the podium with two rookies and a veteran.

Rookie Emery Bardock led wire to wire this season claiming the final PACWEST tournament this weekend and the overall gold medal. She shot 78 on Saturday and a 76 on Sunday, for a combined 154, two better than team Hannah Dirksen.

On the overall cumulative PACWEST leaderboard Bardock shot 625 to win gold, 10 strokes better than the veteran Dirksen who settles for silver. Oddly enough Bardock’s best round was her PACWEST debut, shooting a 77 at the Okanagan Golf Club.

Another Cascades’ rookie, Maddie Kapchinsky, finished with the PACWEST bronze medal three strokes behind Dirksen and 13 behind Bardock.

The PACWEST team awards were also handed out following Sunday’s round and again it was a Cascades sweep. The men won the title with a 19 stroke lead over the UBC Okanagan Heat, while the women also claimed the title with a dominating 128 stroke advantage.

Next up for the PACWEST winners is a trip to the CCAA Nationals in Durham, Ontario next weekend.
