PACWEST Golf Tees Off
The PACWEST golf season opens September 16-17 in the Okanagan
The PACWEST is proud to announce the 2017 golf season as all six schools will be ready to tee-off in September.
A total of four tournaments will make up the golf season which begins Saturday September 16 and Sunday September 17 in Kelowna hosted by the UBC Okanagan Heat at the Okanagan Golf Club. The course is a Jack Nicklaus design which opened in 1999 with sculpted fairways surrounded by the forests and sage sun-drenched brush hills. The Bear/Quail golf courses are the crown jewel of the Okanagan Valley.
The following weekend all six schools will travel to the Morningstar Golf Course on Vancouver Island for the second of four invitational tournaments. The VIU Mariners will host in Parksville on a 6,983 yard course with wide impeccably maintained fairways and large quick undulating greens. Morningstar was designed by Les Furber and has a unique character with multiple teeing options.
The Camosun Chargers will host the third invitational at Highland Pacific Golf Club over the weekend of September 30 – October 1st in Victoria. The course is nearly 50 years old designed by Herb Plasterer that overlooks the majestic Olympic Mountains, the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Thetis Lake Park. The course is 6,603 yards and is a challenging championship course that is playable all year round.
Then finally Ledgeview Golf Club and the UFV Cascades in Abbotsford will host the fourth PACWEST invitational which will also act as the Provincial championship. The tournament is scheduled for the weekend of October 7-8th. The course looks in great shape and his home to PGA tour players Nick Taylor and Adam Hadwin.
Following the PACWEST season the CCAA National championship will open October 17th and will be played in Oshawa Ontario at the Royal Ashburn Golf Club. Originally designed and built in 1962 and has been home to many championship tournaments, Royal Ashburn will be a great and challenging course for these young student athletes.
