The PACWEST is disappointed in hearing the news of Quest University ending the Kermodes varsity athletic program following the 2018 basketball season.
Over the last number of years the Kermodes have brought a competitive program to PACWEST soccer and basketball. They have been tremendous hosts of the PACWEST championship tournaments, most recently hosting the soccer championships this past October.
“The Quest Kermodes have been a valued member of the PACWEST for the better part of a decade,” says Conference President Jake McCallum. “While our members are quite surprised and disappointed by this announcement, we are committed to easing the impact on the student-athletes affected by this decision.”
Since its modest beginnings as the Totem Conference in 1970, British Columbia’s Intercollegiate Athletic Association has seen its membership ebb and flow and is no stranger to adversity. Through all its challenges, the PACWEST has continued to remain a viable option, for over 800 student-athletes yearly. The Conference gives student athletes an opportunity to participate in high level post-secondary varsity athletics and will continue to be a driver for enhancing the student experience across its membership.
Despite this news, the PACWEST will continue with regular scheduled games and matches this weekend as the countdown to the PACWEST championships have officially begun.
