PACWEST Golf Announcement
The PACWEST will no longer offer golf during the competitive season
Golf will not be returning as one of the Conference sports for the upcoming 2021-2022 competitive season. The PACWEST has fallen below the CCAA threshold of three competitive programs needed to access the CCAA Golf Championships. Currently there are only two PACWEST institutions with a golf program.
“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the post-secondary athletics landscape is changing,” says PACWEST President Jake McCallum. “As with numerous programs across the country some of our member institutions were forced to pair-down their athletics program and unfortunately golf has become a casualty. We are hopeful that in time golf will return but for the foreseeable future it will not be part of the PACWEST competitive season.”
“The PACWEST is cautiously optimistic about the upcoming modified seasons for soccer, basketball and volleyball. As a Conference protecting the health and safety of our student athletes, coaches and the community will continue to remain the top priority” states McCallum. No post-secondary sport programming will commence without approval from the British Columbia Health authorities and the Athletic Directors of each institution. The PACWEST is committed to the strict adherence to all government and campus protocols, policies and practices that reduce the spread of COVID-19.
Further information will be circulated as planning for the 2021-2022 PACWEST season moves forward.
