Avalanche Meet Royals
The PACWEST bronze medal match features the Douglas Royals and COTR Avalanche for the first time
#4 COTR Avalanche @ #3 Douglas Royals – Saturday February 25, 1:00pm MST | WATCH HERE
The Royals and Avalanche meet on Saturday afternoon for PACWEST bronze after falling in their semi-final on Friday.
These two programs are very familiar with each other after wrapping up the regular season at Douglas on February 12th in a five set classic. The Royals claimed victory that day by coming back to win the fourth set 29-27 then the fifth set 17-15. If that is any indication of how today’s bronze medal match will go, fans are in for a very entertaining contest.
During the regular season the Royals were 3-1 against the Avalanche with their only loss coming in Cranbrook in October. The Royals earned a pair of sweeps and the five-set win, while the Avalanche won their lone match in four sets.
Friday night the Avalanche pushed the top team in the country, the VIU Mariners, to the brink losing in five sets after winning the first two. The Royals meanwhile were swept by the Camosun Chargers on Friday afternoon.
The Royals and Avalanche have not faced each other in the postseason for over 12 years and neither one of these programs have won a PACWEST bronze since 2002 when the Royals won.
