The Camosun Chargers showed why they are the two-time defending champion after slowing down the high flying UFV Cascades in Friday’s semi-final.
The Chargers took away any Cascade momentum winning the first set 25-20, then dominating the second set 25-12.
The Cascades did try and make it a match coming back in the third set 25-19, but it was too little too late. The Chargers pounded their way to a match win with a 25-22 fourth set victory.
First Team All-Star Savana Walkingbear led the way with 13 kills while the back court was patrolled by Elion Wong and his 21 digs and was named the Player of the Match.
The Cascades were led by Ben Friesen and his match high 17 kills and Isaiah Dahl compiled 24 digs.
With the victory the Chargers will play for PACWEST gold looking for a three-peat. They have already punched their ticket to the CCAA National championship as a wildcard at the very least.
The PACWEST gold medal match is set for Saturday night at 8:00pm against either the VIU Mariners or Douglas College Royals. The Cascades will play the loser for PACWEST bronze tomorrow afternoon.
