The second women’s quarterfinal at the 2017 PACWEST volleyball championship tournament wasn’t as thrilling as the first quarter, but was still very exciting. The defending champion COTR Avalanche would face the fifth seeded UFV Cascades.
The Avalanche jumped out to a two set lead (25-23, 25-21) early and looked to be on cruise control. However the Cascades battled back to take the third set 19-25.
In the fourth set it looked like the Avalanche were rolling along up 11-2, but the Cascades had other ideas. They worked some magic and had things tied up midway through the set.
The Avalanche then dug deep and recovered to win 25-23 and end the Cascades season. Middle blocker Taylor Forster was named Player of the Match.
Friday will be a rematch of last year's gold medal match when the Avalanche face the top seeded VIU Mariners in one of two women's semi-finals set for 6:00pm.
