The 2017 PACWEST volleyball Championship tournament opened with one of the most exciting matches all season as the third seeded Capilano Blues faced the sixth seeded Camosun Chargers in a five set thriller.
After the Blues won the first set 25-22, the Chargers took the next two (31-29, 25-21) and seem to have momentum.
However the veteran Blues stuck with their game plan and won the fourth set 25-23 setting up a do-or-die final fifth set. The Blues took control and eventually completed the comeback handing the Chargers a 15-12 defeat.
The Blues punch their ticket to the semi-final on Friday where they will match up with the second seeded Douglas College Royals. For the Chargers, no doubt disappointment, however their season is not over. They will host the CCAA women’s Nationals in two weeks and will be the host seed.
Blues fifth year veteran and offensive quarterback Sarah Hughes was named the Player of the Match collecting 27 digs.
