The Capilano Blues won a PACWEST bronze behind a record setting performance from Nic Morello.
The Blues captured bronze with a 5-1 victory over the VIU Mariners and Morello scored four goals setting a new championship record on Sunday.
His first goal set the tone in the third minute to open the scoring. His second in the 11th minute turned out to be the game winner.
Two minutes later Peter Cooper cut the lead in half with his first of the championship tournament.
Morello then responded with his hat trick goal in the 16th minute giving the Blues a two goal advantage again.
In the second half it was all Blues as Morello got his fourth of the game in the 75th minute, followed by Andreas Alves netting his first in the 90th minute.
On the Blues backend keeper Hudson Nelles made nine saves in the victory. Morello was named the Player of the Game.
While the season comes to a close for the Blues, the Mariners will still host the 2017 CCAA National championship and will enter that tournament with the host seed.
