Blues Keep Rolling
The Capilano Blues will play for gold again after a 5-2 win over Quest
The Capilano Blues picked up right where they left off in the regular season scoring a 5-2 victory over the Quest Kermodes in the PACWEST Provincial semi-final on Friday.
The Blues opened the scoring quickly in the third minute as Edris Najm struck off a free kick giving the defending champs an early lead. They would extend their lead by a pair when the PACWEST’s leading scorer Keith Jackson got his first of the post season in the 15th minute.
The Kermodes finally solved the Blues, after being shutout three straight times in the regular season. Jeremy Monn scored in the 43rd minute off a free kick.
The Blues regained their two goal advantage in the 50th minute when Jackson scored his second of the game. Adam Logan then extended the lead in the 58th minute to 4-1.
The Kermodes did get one back in the 71st minute as Monn scored his second of the day.
The celebration was short lived however as Blues scored their fifth of the game off a free kick by Omar Rostant in the 77th minute.
Defensively the Blues limited the Kermodes chances thanks to the solid backend work of captain Devon Wooley and Daniel and Nicolas Morello. If anything did breakdown the PACWEST All-Star goalkeeper Hudson Nelles was there to slam the door.
The Blues will look to defend their PACWEST gold medal against the Douglas College Royals on Saturday at 8:00pm at Burnaby Lake Sports Complex. Both teams will represent the PACWEST at the CCAA Nationals in Fort McMurray.
