Bronzed Blues
The Capilano Blues are the PACWEST bronze medalists for 2024
The Capilano Blues are PACWEST bronze medalists after an exciting 89-86 victory over the Langara Falcons on Saturday.
It was a game of runs offensively. The Blues jumped out to a big lead in the first half and led 53-39 at halftime shooting over 60%. After the break it was the Falcons turn as they took the lead in the third quarter going on a 25-19 run. The Blues rebounded in the fourth and retook the lead and ultimately the bronze medal.
The Blues finished shooting 45% and connected on 12-three pointers. Zach Klim was terrific going 9-9 from the free-throw line and finished with a team high 21 points and was named Player of the Game. Josh Dhillon caught fire early hitting four-three pointers and finished with 17 points.
It’s the Blues first PACWEST bronze since 2011.
On the other side the Falcons couldn’t get the timely shot to fall down the stretch. They finished shooting 46% but struggled from downtown hitting four of 26. Royce Sargeant in his final PACWEST game was outstanding scoring 14 points in the third quarter and finished with 25 and was named their Player of the Game. Moeiz Athaya also will graduate the season playing in his last game and finished with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
Congratulations to both teams.
