Chargers Move On
The Camosun Chargers will play for PACWEST gold
The Camosun Chargers advanced to the men’s gold medal game with a convincing 79-57 victory on Friday over the Langara Falcons. The win also propels them to the CCAA national championship tournament in New Brunswick.
They outscored the Falcons 23-7 in the final quarter led by their stifling defence. They didn’t the Falcons offence many good looks and held leading scorer Royce Sargeant to 11 points and kept him off the scoresheet in the second half.
Offensively the Chargers shot 48% from the field with their starters scoring all but six points. Jesse Vogel was outstanding, named Player of the Game with a game high 19 points and 10 rebounds. Jaime Palamos Molins added 17 and was instrumental on the defensive end while Lucas Sheets tallied 14 points.
Coming off a high-energy and emotional win on Thursday night the Falcons seem to run out of gas shooting 38% from the field. Jamar Ergas was named Player of the Game with a team high 15 points most of that coming in the second half as he tried to keep his team in it. Moeiz Athaya finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds while Sargeant had 11 after hitting his first two-three point shots.
With the setback the Falcons will play for bronze on Saturday afternoon.
