The bronze medal game is set when the Chargers and Royals meet to open up Championship Saturday.
On Friday the Chargers fell to the VIU Mariners in the semi-final while the Royals were beaten by the Capilano Blues to end up here in the bronze medal game. This game is actually a rematch of the 2020 bronze medal game in which the Royals won 74-63.
During the regular season they met three times with the Chargers earning the sweep including a 72-54 victory in their last meeting on February 11thon the Camosun floor.
Both teams have shown they like to run up and down the floor in this tournament but slowing it down may be the key to victory. The match up underneath the hoop will be one to keep an eye on as Laini Glover and Carman Hiebert will battle with Allison Bobroske and Niang Di-Di. The team that is able to utilize their post players effectively will have the best chance at winning. Outside shooting has been fairly even from both teams with the likes of Karalee Antoine and Chelsea Espenberg.
Oddly enough one of these two teams has won bronze in the last four seasons. The Royals won last year, in 2020 and in 2018 while the Chargers captured this medal in 2019.
