The Chargers Win Bronze
The Camosun Chargers win their second PACWEST bronze and first since 2019
The Camosun Chargers are the women’s bronze medalists for 2023 after a 66-57 victory over the Douglas Royals on Saturday.
The Chargers used a full court press to disrupt the Royals offence for easy points and controlled the pace of play. Their offence struggled early on but by the end they shot 33% led by Tegan Michel who had a game high 19 points. Allison Bobrokse was outstanding on the post especially late in the game She finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds, but eight of her points were in the fourth quarter when they mattered most including a massive three-point shot in the late stages of the final frame. She was named the Player of the Game.
For the young Royals team they learned some valuable lessons and will be stronger coming back next season. Laini Glover was the Player of the Game with 16 points and five rebounds playing a very tough, physical game underneath the hoop. As a team the Royals shot 32.3% and made 16 steals on the defensive side.
The Chargers win their first bronze since 2019 and it’s just their second PACWEST bronze ever.
