The Royals and Blues will play for PACWEST bronze on Saturday afternoon in the final game of the season for both teams.
The Blues will play for bronze after a disappointing loss to the Okanagan Coyotes in the semi-final on Friday; 82-73. They shot 41.5% in the loss and were outscored 28-11 in the final quarter which was their undoing. They will face a Royals team that they met three times in the regular season and swept all three meetings which included a 61-47 victory in the season finale. In the seasonal series they averaged an 11-point win and shot 32.8% with Jenna Griffin leading the way averaging 14.3 points.
The Royals played the VIU Mariners tough on Friday night in a semi-final losing 59-45. They shot 34% from the field with Laini Glover leading the offence with 11 points. Against the Blues in the seasonal series they shot 28.2% and Karalee Antoine average just over nine points each game.
Last season (2019-2020) the Royals won bronze while the Blues won a silver. It’s been a while since the Blues won a bronze medal after five straight trips to the PACWEST final. They last won in 2012.
