The Golden Royals
The Douglas College Royals win their first women's PACWEST gold medal since 1993

The Douglas College Royals are golden after a well executed victory over the Capilano Blues by a 70-63 score.
The Royals shot 33% in the gold medal game and scored 21 second chance points on route to the victory. Rachel Beauchamp was named the player of the game with 15 points and 16 rebounds; 11 of which were on the offensive glass.
Amber Beasley led the Royals with 17 points and Ellen Fallis collected 14. Three players tallied double-digit totals in rebounds, Beauchamp (16), Sarah Jorgenson (12) and Jettie McLaughlin (11).
The third quarter was the best for the Royals who outscored the Blues 16-9 to take control of the game.
The Blues struggled from the free throw line, shooting just 45% and finished 11 of 24. They shot 30% from the field led by Reiko Ohama who tallied a game high 19 points. Carmelle M’Bikata collected 16 points and 16 rebounds and Karyn Nelson had a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The Royals win their first PACWEST gold since 1993 and will now represent the PACWEST at the CCAA national championship in Edmonton starting in two weeks.
