Men's Bronze Medal Preview
The Langara Falcons meet the Douglas College Royals for PACWEST bronze at 3:00pm
The men’s championship bracket will open at 3:00pm at the PACWEST basketball championship on Saturday with bronze medal game as the #2 Langara Falcons face the #4 Douglas College Royals.
The Falcons were upset by the third seeded Capilano Blues in yesterday’s semi-final 68-63. Gary Minhas was solid scoring 18 points and Ravi Basra collected 16. Offensively they were held to 33% shooting from the field and 18% from downtown.
The Royals on the other hand played tough against the top seeded VIU Mariners, but foul trouble hampered their offence production as All-Stars Malcolm Mensah and Grant Campbell had to play “careful.” They shot 36% against the Mariners led by Reese Morris who dropped 21 and had 12 boards.
Overall in this championship Morris has been the “go-to-guy” with 47 points and 29 rebounds.
Over the course of the regular season the Falcons won twice in the three game series shooting 40% and were led by Basra and his 17 points a game. The Royals on the other hand shot 35% from the field and Mensah collected 17.6 each contest.
The Royals lone win in the series came in their final meeting an impressive 96-88 overtime victory.
