The Douglas College Royals will play for the women’s PACWEST gold medal after a 56-43 victory over the defending champion VIU Mariners on Friday.
The Royals led from start to finish and were paced by Rachel Beauchamp with 16 points and 15 rebounds and Ellen Fallis chipped in with 10 points. Both Jettie McLaughlin and Sarah Jorgenson each tallied 10 rebounds.
The banged up Mariners shot 27% from the field and struggled to get baskets in the second half. Veteran Sienna Pollard led them with 14 points.
The Royals will now play for PACWEST gold tomorrow at 6:00pm against the winner of the Capilano-Camosun.
The Mariners will now play for PACWEST bronze tomorrow at 1:00pm.
