The final semi-final of Friday will feature the top ranked VIU Mariners facing the #4 seeded Douglas College Royals at 8:00pm.
The Mariners are on an incredible 13 game winning streak and haven’t lost since November. They shot 42.7% during the regular season and are scoring an average of 87.3 points a game led by three PACWEST All-Stars including Player of the Year Usama Zaid who scored 28.4 points a game taking 382 shots this season.
The Royals earned the right to play in today’s semi after a six point victory last night over the host Quest Kermodes. The Royals led from start to finish shooting 44% led by Reese Morris and Grant Campbell who scored 26 and 24 points respectively.
During this past season the Mariners won all three meetings by an average of 13 points a game. They shot 39% while the Royals shot 33% from the field. Zaid led the offence averaging 30 points a game and Malcolm Mensah countered averaging 17.6 a game.
The winner will play for PACWEST gold tomorrow at 8:00pm against the winner of the Langara-Capilano semi-final
