The Douglas College Royals are moving on in the PACWEST championship after an 86-80 quarterfinal victory over the Quest Kermodes.
The Royals led from start to finish as Reese Morris was the difference maker with 26 points and 16 rebounds and Grant Campbell dropped in 24 points. Overall the Royals shot 51.7% from the field and 35% from downtown. Morris was named the player of the game.
The Kermodes were held to within five points the majority of the game until they brought it to within three late, but couldn’t get over the hump. Dallas Searles in his final PACWEST game led the way with 22 points and both Noah deRappard-Yuswack and Theo VandenEkart each scored 19 points. As a team they shot 40% from the field.
The Royals will now face the VIU Mariners in Friday’s semi-final at 8:00pm. The winner moves onto the gold medal game on Saturday.
