The Capilano Blues punched their ticket to the semi-final with an impressive 76-69 victory over the Camosun Chargers.
Hassan Phills paced the Blues with a team high 23 points and was named the Player of the Game on 7-13 shooting. More impressively was his defence keeping the Chargers from breakaways. First team All-Star Greet Gill scored 15 and Rookie of the Year Wayne Untalan dropped in 12 and collected six assists.
As a team the Blues shot 36% from both the field and three-point line. Their defence created 24 turnovers.
In the loss Evan Woodson in his final PACWEST game carried his club netting a game high 27 points. Rulon Schmidt, also playing in his final game scored 11 points and collected 15 boards. As a team they shot 35% from the field and 31% from the three-point line.
The Blues will now face the #2 seeded Langara Falcons in Friday’s semi-final at 3:00pm.
