In the first men’s semi-final of the 2016 PACWEST Basketball Provincial Championships the #2 Quest Kermodes faced the Cinderella team of tournament, the #6 Camosun Chargers.

Quest jumped out of the gate with a 9-0 lead but the Chargers were able to settle down and lead 17-13 at the end of the first quarter. In the second, the Chargers continued to control the pace of the game as they hit open threes and played solid defense to take a 35-26 lead into the halftime break. Chargers guard Evan Woodson was perfect from the field and ended the half with 10 points on 3/3 shooting. PACWEST first team all-star Dallas Searles led the way for the Kermodes with 12 points in 16 minutes of play.

The Chargers continued to build on their lead early in the third, but it was the Kermodes who ended the quarter with the momentum behind the hot shooting of PACWEST first team all-star Theo VandenEkart and impressive post-play by Daniel Canzater. Camosun held a one-point advantage, 52-51 with 10 minutes to play.

The Kermodes could not keep second team all-star Ted Neilson off the boards all game as he finished with 9 points and 18 rebounds to help lead the underdog Chargers over the Kermodes with a 84-64 win. Player of the game Evan Woodson scored 26 points in the win for the Chargers. Quest was led by guards Searles (24 points) and VandenEkart (16 points).
